"Nick Curnow is one of the most skilled accent coaches around." BEL DELIÁ (The Tunnel, Love of My Life)
Need to learn a new accent? Improve your skills?
Or just have a check up before that big audition?
"Working with Nick allows me to be calm about the technicality of the accent
being done and opens doors for me to focus on what I want to do with the character"
MOJEAN ARIA (See, The Enforcer, Reminiscence, The Bronx Bull)
Have you ever seen a movie, TV show or play with an actor you know is doing an accent, and you know they're doing it BADLY? Take a moment to think: How did you know that it wasn't up to scratch? What gave it away?
Some people will tell you getting an accent right is all about getting the "music." This is half true; an authentic accent is more than just breathiness, an upward inflection or some kind of indefinable "twang".

"I highly recommend Nick to get you up to industry standard without much fuss."
STEPHEN PEACOCKE (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Hercules, Home & Away) Rather than repetitive drilling and vague directions about your tongue or your jaw, I combine my training as an actor and director with my postgraduate study of PHONETICS (how we pronounce things) and most importantly PHONOLOGY (how we think about how we pronounce things) to show you what you ARE doing, what you are CAPABLE of doing, and equip you with the tools you need to ultimately teach yourself after our sessions are done. |
"Nick's got the magic ear for sound." STEPHANIE DRAPEAU (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Leftovers, Day 5, StartUp)
"I can only marvel at Nick’s acute ear for sounds, his thorough preparation, his gentle and reassuring manner, and his insightful follow-through as the season progresses." HENRI SZEPS, OAM (Mother & Son, Colditz, A Country Practice)
Basically, I can't move your tongue, lips, jaw and palate for you, so I target how you are THINKING ABOUT the sounds rather than how you are physically making them. Accents are much more about mental gymnastics than you would expect.
Most importantly, I make learning accents and exploring your voice about having fun - not the headache so many actors fear!

If you want to take your work to another level - talk to Nick!" AARON GLENANE (Snowpiercer, Shantaram, Interceptor)
"I highly recommend you spend time with Nick before your next big audition." DEMITRIOS SIRLAS
"Nick softly imparted sounds in one ear whilst the director shouted action in the other. It all seemed to fall in place." PETER ROWLEY
