WELCOME to the official website for Adelaide- South Australian-based voice & dialect coach, actor and director, Nick Curnow! For detailed biography and information about who I am, what I do and how to get in touch with me follow the links above.
I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Voice from Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), currently ranked in the top 10 acting training institutions in the world and the only institution outside of the USA and UK in that list. I also hold a Graduate Diploma from the University of New England (UNE) majoring in Linguistics (Phonetics and Phonology) and Theatre Studies (Acting and Directing). I received my BA (Performance), with Distinction from the University of Western Sydney (now Western Sydney University) which at the time was known as the highly respected Theatre Nepean. I am currently co-ordinating the Voice program for the Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide, South Australia. The Elder Conservatorium is the oldest Conservatorium in Australia, and the music theatre course, begun in 2019, is now entering its fourth year. I have performed on stages from the Sydney Opera House to Belvoir St, from the Old Fitzroy to the New Theatre. I have lent my expertise to feature films (such as The Enforcer, Interceptor, Outback and Rip Tide), prime time television (The Slap, Sea Patrol) and to both mainstage and independent theatres such as Opera Australia, Company B Belvoir St, Ensemble Theatre Company, Old Fitzroy/Red Line/TRS, New Theatre, Darlinghurst Theatre Company, and PlayMakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I have been interviewed on multiple platforms including the national media such as the ABC - on radio and in print - as well as popular media sites such as Junkee. I was also featured on Channel 10's program Hughesy, We Have a Problem. See my Press page for details! To read more about my rationale and philosophy of voice, head over here.
